אני פותח את המחשב ומקבל תיבת דו שיח שכתוב בה:

The selected port , COM3, is not
    available at this time,

HtSync Manager will open the port when
    it becomes available.

PORT COM

Once the USB drivers are installed to find out what com port it is on
    please do the following.

    1. Open Control Panel.
    2. Click System.
    3. Click Hardware Tab.
    4. Click Device Manager.
    5. Click on the "+" sign next to ports Com and LPT.
    6. You will see PalmConnect or something similar and the com port it is
    assigned to. (ie. Com 5)
    7. Set HotSync Manager to the same com port.
    8. HotSync.

NOTE: USB support is not available for Microsoft Windows 95 and
Windows NT. This includes the PalmConnect USB kit and the
    Palm m500(TM) series handhelds.

The following information will help you in resolving issues when
installing and/or trying to connect your Palm handheld computer using
the PalmConnect USB kit. I suggest you follow the steps below:

NOTE: You may wish to verify the version of Palm Desktop software you
are using. If you have the new Palm Desktop 4.0.1, you will need to
place a checkmark next to Local Serial in the HotSync Manager. If you
are experiencing connection issues, please place a checkmark next to
Local USB as well. With both Local USB and Local Serial checkmarked,
    please perform another HotSync operation.

    >

If you are using Windows 98, the USB drivers can be found on the disk
that comes with the PalmConnect USB kit. For Windows Millennium
(Windows ME) and Windows 2000, it is best to download the USB drivers
from our Web site at the following URL:

    http://www.palm.com/support/accessories/usb/palmusb.html

The USB driver downloads, installation, and uninstallation information
is available at this URL as well. We suggest you print the
instructions, and follow them exactly when downloading and installing
USB drivers from our Web site.

    >

If you already attempted to install the PalmConnect USB Kit drivers,
and the 'Add new hardware' window does not appear, we suggest you
verify with your computer manufacturer that the USB ports are fully
    enabled on your computer.

If the 'Add new hardware' window does appear, but you still do not have
a HotSync connection, then the HotSync Manager Setup should be
checked. Please follow these steps below to verify settings:

    1. Click the HotSync Manager icon in the lower-right corner of your
    computer screen.

    2. Choose Setup, and select the Local tab.

    3. Click the drop-down arrow next to Serial port, and select a
    different COM number.

    4. Click the drop-down arrow next to Speed, and choose 9600.

NOTE: If you do not have any COM numbers to choose from, we suggest
you contact your computer manufacturer to assist you with enabling more
    comports on the computer.

    5. When the COM number has been modified, and the speed has been
lowered, click OK and synchronize again. If you have a
HotSync connection, you can raise the connection speed by going
into the HotSync Manager Setup, and choosing the Local tab again.

    >

If you do not have a connection, it may be due to a COM and/or IRQ
conflict. This might be due to the fact that your modem is using the
same COM number that is selected in the HotSync Manager for the Local
    setup.

*Verifying the COM port the modem is using*

Please follow the steps below to verify which COM port the modem is
    using:

    1. Click Start, choose Settings, and open the Control Panel.

    2. Double-click the Modems icon, and choose Properties. Take note of
which COM number you see. This is the comport the modem is using
    on your computer.

Without making any changes, click Cancel to close the modem properties,
    and close all windows.

    *HotSync Manager Setup*

    1. Click the HotSync Manager icon, choose Setup, and click the Modem
    tab.

    2. For Serial port, choose the COM number the modem is using, which
you verified in the Control Panel. This number should be different
than the COM number under the Local tab.

NOTE: If you do not see other COM numbers available for selection in
the HotSync Manager setup, resulting in the Local and Modem setup using
the same COM number, you will experience IRQ conflicts. It is still
possible to perform a HotSync operation, provided you are not using the
Modem at the same time. To avoid IRQ conflicts, ensure you are not
connected to the Internet while performing a HotSync operation. In
return, to use your Modem, click the HotSync manager and choose Exit.
With the HotSync Manager disabled, you will be able to use your Modem
to dial out. You can restart the HotSync Manager by following the
    steps below:

    *Launch HotSync Manager*

    1. Click Start, select Programs, and choose Palm Desktop.

    2. Select the HotSync Manager option. This will restart the HotSync
    Manager.

To avoid issues, we suggest contacting your computer manufacturer, and
asking them to enable more COM ports on your computer to avoid IRQ
    conflicts.

Included below are instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall the
PalmConnect USB kit. There are two sets of directions below, please
choose the appropriate instructions, depending on whether you have the
PalmConnect USB Kit CD, or if you downloaded the USB drivers from the
    Palm(TM) Inc. Web site.

    >

First, you need to unplug the PalmConnect USB adapter from your
    computer.

*Uninstalling the PalmConnect USB kit using the CD*

    1. Insert the PalmConnect USB CD into the CD-ROM Drive.

    2. Click Start; choose Run.

    3. Type the letter representing the CD-ROM Drive, followed by
'remove.exe'. For example, if your CD-ROM is the D:\Drive, you
would type the following at the Run command:

    D:\REMOVE.EXE

Once you have typed this command and clicked OK, the PalmConnect USB Kit
drivers have been removed from your computer.

If you downloaded the USB drivers from the Palm Inc. Web site, or
depending on when you purchased the PalmConnect USB kit, there may be an
uninstall feature for the USB drivers in a folder on the CD.

*Uninstalling PalmConnect USB kit using the 'palm-usbscrub' utility*

    1. Double-click 'My Computer', and select the CD-ROM Drive.

    2. Right-click the CD-ROM Drive, choose Explore, and locate the folder
that represents the Operating System (OS) you are using on your
    computer (i.e. Microsoft Windows 2000).

    3. Double-click the folder, then double-click the
'palm-usbscrub.exe'. This will uninstall the PalmConnect USB kit
    drivers from your computer.

    >

Before reinstalling the PalmConnect USB kit, we suggest you restart the
    computer.

To reinstall the PalmConnect USB kit, please visit the following URL:

    http://www.palm.com/support/accessories/usb/palmusb.html

We suggest you print the directions, and follow them exactly to
reinstall the PalmConnect USB kit on your computer.

If, after following all of the above steps, you are still having
connection issues, please use the PalmConnect USB kit on a different
computer. This will help to determine if it is an issue with the USB
port on the computer, or if it is in fact an issue with the PalmConnect
    USB kit.
